BMW Atacama panniers, one 35 liters, the other 25 liters (for use on the exhaust side of a GS or other bikes with side mounted exhaust). These have a large main compartment containing a removable dry bag, and two waterproof side pockets. There is a front "beaver tail" to allow carrying objects outside of the bags. Several straps allow for adjusting the size of the bags to fit their cargo. They are in excellent condition. The original backing plates are included, but are not needed when using the Giant Loop mounts, which saves a considerable amount of weight. No longer available through BMW.
The Giant Loop mounts allow the Atacama panniers (or other types of soft or hard luggage) to mount to the original BMW pannier carrier, and will fit most mounts using tubes from 14-18mm. They include an integral locking system. The original Atacama system required a base plate to be bolted to the BMW rack. While this plate allowed for quickly mounting or removing the bags, the plate stayed in place, making it impossible to use BMW aluminum panniers without first removing the base plates. The Giant Loop system mounts directly to the BMW luggage carrier, and allows quickly swapping between soft or hard luggage as needed. The adapter for use with a GS with the offset exhausts is included, and will work with either left or right side exhaust systems.
The Giant Loop mounts feature numerous pre-drilled holes and slots for mounting many types of soft or hard luggage using either straps or screws. They are also pre-drilled for use with Rotopax fuel or water cans. These mounts are new.
